This archive was collated in most part by Betty M. Haines between the 1940’s and 1970’s. It is comprised of skin and leather samples from a wide variety of species types, collected from around the globe, prepared as grain and cross sections. The collection also contains hair samples and vegetable tannin samples.
Associated handwritten information has been transcribed into category fields and information linked to secondary site descriptions where possible. Information that couldn’t be transcribed with confidence has been omitted, although the original handwritten text is visible in images. This is a working archive; we welcome any comments or information users may have. We are also accepting donations of additional material, including skins, leather, and hair. For further information or to discuss use of material from the archive, please contact info@leatherconservation.org
This collection contains two samples of human tissue.
